SJVN commissions 90 MW floating solar project, boosts capacity to 2466.5 MW




The project, executed by SJVN Green Energy Limited (SGEL), a subsidiary of SJVN, is located in Omkareshwar Floating Solar Park, Khandwa, Madhya Pradesh, the largest floating solar park in India.




New Delhi: SJVN Limited, a Mini Ratna Schedule ‘A’ CPSU under the ministry of power has commissioned its 90 MW Omkareshwar Floating Solar Project, increasing its total installed capacity to 2466.50 MW.


The project, executed by SJVN Green Energy Limited (SGEL), a subsidiary of SJVN, is located in Omkareshwar Floating Solar Park, Khandwa, Madhya Pradesh, the largest floating solar park in India.


Developed at a cost of Rs 646.20 crore, the project is expected to generate 196.5 million units of energy in its first year, with an estimated cumulative generation of 4629.3 million units over 25 years.


The project will boost SJVN’s revenue by Rs 64 crore and contribute to the reduction of 2.3 lakh tonne of carbon emissions. It aligns with the government’s mission of achieving net zero carbon emissions by 2070 and aids in water conservation by reducing evaporation.


The project was awarded at a tariff of Rs 3.26 per unit through competitive bidding conducted by REWA Ultra Mega Solar Limited (RUMSL) on a Build Own and Operate basis. The Power Purchase Agreement has been executed between SGEL, RUMSL, and MPPMCL for a period of 25 years.


SJVN’s current project portfolio stands at 56802.40 MW, with ongoing projects across Hydro, Pumped Storage, Thermal, and Renewable Energy sectors.
