Gensol-Matrix Consortium wins ₹164 crore bid for India’s first bio-hydrogen project

The project, to be completed within 18 months, aligns with India’s National Green Hydrogen Mission and marks a significant step towards sustainable energy. Gensol and Matrix have partnered with Westinghouse, USA, to utilize their patented Pre-Gasification Plasma Induced Radiant Energy-Based Gasification System (GH2-PREGS) technology for the project.


New Delhi: Gensol Engineering Limited, in partnership with Matrix Gas & Renewables Ltd., has secured a contract worth ₹164 crore to develop India’s first Bio-Hydrogen project. The consortium emerged as the lowest bidder for the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) of the project, which will convert 25 tons of bio-waste into 1 ton of hydrogen per day.


The project, to be completed within 18 months, aligns with India’s National Green Hydrogen Mission and marks a significant step towards sustainable energy. Commenting on the development, Anmol Singh Jaggi, Chairman and Managing Director of Gensol Engineering Ltd., said, “We are honored to emerge as the lowest bidder for EPC of India’s first biomass to green hydrogen project. The project will be established in collaboration with India’s leading power generation company and is seen as a milestone in the country’s push towards green hydrogen. Gensol and Matrix, promoted by common promoters, plan to continue their collaboration in the Green Hydrogen sector, including ventures into Green Steel and Green Ammonia.
